basically the whole point, besides the wedding.

there is no way that we can make a holistic list of all the places that you should try when you're on the island. we hope that you have some time before or after the wedding to spend a little time exploring and tasting your way around the island.

we've made a small hit list of things you should try, some of which we'll have at the wedding, but do a little research in advance and try something you can't get wherever you call home.

Alcapurrias, Bacalaítos, Piononos, Pastelillos de Carne, Sorullitos de Maíz, Arepas de Coco, Tostones, Empanadillas, Quesitos, Chicharrones, Rellenos de papa, Pasteles... take your pick.

it's a fairly small island, of course the seafood is incredible. we had the best octopus ceviche from a kiosk at the beach. we suggest giving it a try.

we go in depth so you know the difference

Tostones (savory) green plantains sliced, fried , smashed, then fried again and seasoned with salt. Maduros (sweet) very ripe plantains, sliced and fried until caramelized and sweet. Mofongo, (mashed) a signature dish featuring fried green plantains mashed in a mortar with garlic, chicharrón, and olive oil. and Pastelon, (savory) a layered dish similar to lasagna or shepherd's pie, using sweet ripe plantains as the base with fillings like meat
